America is great, not because of her location, geography, military, or money. America is great because of her ideas.
On July 4, 1776, Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence was set forth by a “band of brothers” – the founding fathers of the United States – in the face of the mighty British empire.
We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. – Thomas Jefferson
There had never before been a government like the one they were proposing. A government by the will of the people and not the whims of the powerful few. It had never been fully attempted.
Thank God they were successful.
If you live in a country where you have a vote that counts, you should celebrate July 4th with me. It is not about a geographic location. It is about an idea that impacts the entire world.
